ENID — Funeral service for George Bisel, 80, of Okeene, will be 2 p.m. today, March 27, 2012, at Mennonite Brethren Church, Okeene, with Rev. Bennet Peters officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Okeene. Memories may be shared at www.lanmanmemorials.com.

George William Bisel was born Sept. 3, 1931, near Okeene. His parents were William Bisel and Lida Lorraine (Weigand) Bisel.

George went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

George lived most of his life in the Okeene area. He attended and graduated from Okeene High School in 1949.

He married Rose Ann (Weber) Bisel in September 1952 in Okeene. From this union they had three children, Theresa, Kelly and Neal.

Over the next 20 years, George was a farmer, worked for Blaine County District 2, worked in the oil field, was a salesman of CB radios and welders, was a welder at Waldons in Fairview and owned and operated Geo-Ann's Department Store in Okeene.

After the passing of his first wife, George married Juhree Gayle (Piel) Bisel on Oct. 23, 1975, in Enid. They made their home southwest of Okeene.

During that time, he worked as a machinist at George E. Failing in Enid and worked for the county as a heavy equipment operator.  Something that he loved, and one of George's greatest accomplishments, was serving the people of Blaine County District 2 as county commissioner from January 1991 until he retired in January 1997. Under his watch as commissioner, the county built numerous bridges in District 2, utilizing state and federal money.

George was very faithful and active in his church. He was baptized in 1949 and joined the Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church in September 1955. He served as church trustee from 1986 until 2010, and was on the food committee for 20 years.

In June 2010, George moved to Chandler, where he lived with his son Kelly and wife Karen. He moved back to Okeene into Summit Living Center in January 2012.

George loved his grandchildren and enjoyed being a part of their lives. Anyone who has ever met him knows that he always had smile on his face and a positive attitude. Even in his last days on this earth, when you entered his hospital room, he would give you one of his sweet smiles.

George was preceded in death by his parents; both wives, Rose Ann and Juhree; brother, Robert "Bob" Bisel of Okeene; and a sister-in-law, Izora Bisel of Yukon,

George is survived by daughter, Theresa Wiggins and husband Mike, granddaughter, Lindi Wright and husband Jay, and great-granddaughter Celeste Grace, all of Tulsa; son, Kelly and wife Karen of Chandler; grandchildren, Brett Bisel of Tulsa, Casandra Bisel of Cherokee, Josh Roberts of Canton, and Jeremiah Bisel and Jessica Bisel of Chandler; son, Neal and wife Leigh Anne of Okeene; grandchildren, Brooke Kusch and husband Nicholas, and Brittany Jo Bisel, all of Okeene; brother, Larry Bisel of Yukon; sisters-in-law, Doris Bisel of Okeene and Linda Piel of Turrle; nephews, Mark Bisel, Rob Bisel, Shawn Piel and Cory Piel; and niece, Amanda Bisel Haffey.

Memorial donations may be made to the church through the funeral home.
