Victor Milton Long
April 7, 1926 - Nov. 19, 2006
Victor M. Long was born April 7, 1926 to Jacob and Marie [Lipps] Long in Blaine County, Oklahoma,
He served in the US Army as part of the Signal Corps from 1945 - 1947. After his service he moved to Wasco where he met Josephine Alice Crouch and they married September 18, 1948.
Vic worked for Pacific Gas and Electric as a lineman for a short time before beginning his farming career.
During the early farming years, he also worked part-time at the cotton gin. He retired from farming in the late 1990s.
Jo & Vic were charter members of the Wasco Christian Church and in later years attended the Ming Ave. Christian Church and Vic recently became a member of the Riverlakes Community Church.
After sharing 57 years of marriage, Josephine passed away December 11, 2005, leaving Vic with a longing to join her.
Victor lived his life with gratitude for God's saving grace. The most important things in Vic's life were his salvation, his love for Josephine and tilling dirt. He loved his family and they were always an important part of his life.
He is survived by his sons, Cary Long and wife Susan of Bakersfield, David Long and wife Chris of Chicago, IL; daughters, Pam Lansing & husband David and Sandra DeSheilds & husband Rod, all of Wasco; brothers, Harvey Long and Raymond Long, both of Wasco; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members.
His wife, parents and 7 siblings preceded him in death.
A graveside service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will be held Friday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at Wasco Memorial Park. Pastor Steve Moore of the Ming Avenue Christian Church will officiate and interment will follow. Visitation will be Wed., Nov. 22 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
