Alice Nusz was born on a farm south of Okeene on December 31, 1920 to Carl & Eva Rusch Nusz, and lived her entire life in the Okeene community. She attended grades first through eighth at Arapaho School south of Okeene. She then finished high school at Okeene, graduating in 1938. She married Harron Irion in Watonga on February 20, 1943. To this union was born a son, Thomas and a daughter, Vicki. Harron died suddenly in October of 1963, and she then lost her son, Thom, suddenly in 1995. Her first job was at a local cafe in Okeene. She then worked as an operator at Mutual Telephone Company which later became Pioneer Telephone. In 1964 she started working as a secretary at Okeene Schools where she retired in 1988 after 23 years of service. She dearly loved being around the students and the excitement of all the school activities. After retirement, Alice enjoyed the many weekends she spend with her granddaughter Mandy, as well as watching her grandsons, Chad and Beau, play sports and participate in various school activities. Surviving Alice is her daughter, Vicki Westfahl of Ringwood, two grandsons, Chad Westfahl of Austin, Texas and Beau Westfahl of Oklahoma City, one granddaughter, Mandy Heger of Mustang and two great grandsons, Christian and Malachi. Also surviving Alice are two brothers, Raymond Nusz & James Nusz and wife, Twyla; two sisters, Olinda McBride and husband Jim and Lena Osmus; one sister-in-law, Dorma Lee Outhier, all of Okeene. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Harron; one son, Tom; one sister, Edna Schnell and husband, Albert; one brother, Roy Nusz and wife, Lillie; two sisters-in-law, Viola Nusz and Elvina Boedeker and husband, Charles and two brothers-in-law, Everett Outhier and Leonard Osmus. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her.
Alice Irion, December 31, 1920 to February 17th, 2007, Services held at First United Methodist Church, Okeene, Oklahoma. Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. Officiating Rev. Terrill Parvin.
