Edward Earl Bartel
(January 20, 1925 - February 14, 2008)

Edward Earl Bartel was born January 20, 1925, in Okeene, OK to Herman Bartel and Pearl (Shaw) Bartel and died Thursday, February 14, 2008, at the Fairview Hospital in Fairview, OK.
He attended school in Homestead, OK and Longdale, OK and served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Air Corps during the World War II era. He then went to work for the Civil Service at Tinker A.F.B. in Oklahoma City, OK and retired from there after 33 years of service. Among Ed’s great loves in life were his home, travel, and square-dancing.
He married Pearl Estes in 1942 and had a son, Ray Dean Bartel in 1943. He married Arleda (Landt) Schiska in 1947 and had 2 sons, Edward Earl Bartel, Jr. in 1948 and Ronald Leroy Bartel in 1949, and raised Ray Dean Schiska. He was married to Joy Doerksen from 1975 until her death in 1996. Earl was also preceded in death by his son Ronald and sister Helen Bolstridge. He married Patricia Hope Boyington in 1997.
Surviving are his beloved wife Pat Bartel of Longdale, OK; 3 children, Ray Dean Bartel of Enid, OK, Edward Earl Bartel, Jr. and wife Denethea of Longdale, OK, and Ray Dean Schiska and wife Arti of Newcastle, OK; a brother Clinton Ray Bartel and wife Veda of Canon City, CO; 12 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Ed requested that there be no funeral or graveside services and that he be cremated. Arrangements are by Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK. Condolences and memorials may be made through the funeral home at Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home
