LAURA IRENE STORY SMITH TAYLOR


ENID - Laura Irene Story Smith Taylor was born March 5, 1924, in Marshall, Okla., to Charles and Hattie (Siegmann) Story and passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at Fairview Fellowship Home .

Irene grew up near Eagle City, Okla., where she graduated high school.

She married Alfred William Smith July 8, 1944, in Fairview, Okla. They made their home south of Canton, where they raised four children.

Later in life she married Willis Taylor in July 1975.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Smith of Canton; three daughters, Karen Martin of Garden City, Kan., Carol Foster of Canton, Okla., and Kathy Weathers of Meno, Okla.; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Irene also has three step-sons, Roger, Jeff and Grant Taylor; stepdaughter, Willa Jane; 10 stepgrandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Dean Smith; and two sisters-in-law, Katie Harris and Wilma Story.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Bill Smith and Willis Taylor; one granddaughter, TroyceLynn; one great-grandson, Braden Troy; and two brothers, Duane and Roy Story.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Canton Christian Church with Steve Driskill officiating. Interment will follow in Eagle City Cemetery under the direction of Haigler -Pierce Funeral Home , Canton, Okla.
