Bonnie Herod
(April 7, 1936 - September 24, 2015)

Yvonne Rae Herod, 79 years old of Canton, Oklahoma also known lovingly by most as “Bonnie”, “Bammy”, or “Nana” departed this life with comfort and peace on Thursday, September 24, 2015 with her husband and son at her side. Bonnie was born on April 7, 1936 in Eagle City, Oklahoma to parents Chester Allen and Rae Luella Long. On October 3, 1952 she was joined in marriage to “Pete” Robert Melvin Herod. She was a dedicated mother to four sons, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Those blessed enough to be close to her describe her as amazing, humble, strong, faithful, and an encourager to those around her. She was an impressive seamstress and an ordained minister of her church, “Community of Christ”. Bonnie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Pete Herod; son Richard Melvin Herod; daughter-in-law Shelly Herod; grandchildren Richard Andrew Herod, Carrie Noel Lingerfelt and husband Lance, Peter Dylan Herod and wife Anna, Brittany Fern Parker and husband Alan, De'Andra Renee Parsons and husband Chayne and Dustin Wayne Brodrick and wife Dusti; great-grandchildren San Pablo and Judah Herod, Elijah, Willa and Silas Lingerfelt, Westynn and Gryffan Parker, Ava, Alivia, Jack and Levi Parsons, Hinsley and Whitley Brodrick; sister Ellen “Ellie” Harris and husband Jack; brothers Allen “Buddy” Long and wife Kim and Joe Long and wife Rachel; nephews Dallas, Jeff, Ryan, Shelby, Kooper and Wiley; nieces Gayla, Jackie, Ashlyn and Wynnley; Bonnie demonstrated great faith and reliance on her Savior as she was preceded in death by her parents; her three sons, Robert Allen Herod, Adam Carroll Herod and Peter Aaron Herod; and one sister, Kara Babcock; Many thanks to the rest of Bonnie's family and friends who loved and supported her in this lifetime, although the gift was theirs. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Eagle City Cemetery south of Canton, Oklahoma.
