Lewis E. Abshire

Sep 10, 1925  ~ Nov 25, 1981

Canton – Lewis E. Abshire, 56, Lafayette, Louisiana, died there Wednesday after a lengthy illness.

His funeral will be at 10 AM Friday in Lafayette, with graveside services scheduled for 4 PM Saturday in the Eagle City Cemetery at Eagle City. The Rev. Chester Allen Long will officiate at the rites.

Final arrangements are under the direction of the Haigler Funeral Home of Canton.

Abshire had lived in Lafayette the past seven years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Sea-Bees in the South Pacific. He retired after 30 years service with Halliburton as a diesel mechanic.

Abshire is survived by his wife Jo Nell of the home; two sons, George E. Abshire, Norman, and Arlie W. Abshire, Oklahoma City; a daughter, Karen Sue Abshire, Lafayette; a step son, Lee Reynaud, Lafayette; a brother, Willey Abshire, Oklahoma City.
