HAIGLER-PIERCE FUNERAL HOME, CANTON, OK
PERMISSION GRANTED
CANTON — Funeral service for Alvena Quanantilla Reichert, 83, of Canton, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Canton Christian Church, with Steve Driskill officiating. Interment will follow in Cherryvale Cemetery, east of Canton, under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.

Alvena was born March 1, 1930, near Southard, Okla., to Lawrence and Katie (Helzer) Hempel. She departed from this life on Thursday, June 20, 2013, in Enid, Okla.

Alvena married Chester Reichert Dec. 17, 1949, in Southard, Okla.

She was a member of Canton Christian Church, Canton Senior Citizens, Dahlia Garden Club and Southard Sewing Club. She was known for making delicious home-made chicken noodles, lemon meringue pie made with milk, made just right so that the lemon wouldn’t curdle, chocolate cake with cooked icing and home-made cinnamon rolls, which were Chester’s favorite. Alvena enjoyed traveling and going on trips with Chester. Together, they visited California, Disneyworld in Florida and Canada, among many other places. She enjoyed painting, writing letters and poetry, and grew a large garden and canned fruits, vegetables and meats.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester Reichert; an infant son, Verdie Lee Reichert; two sisters, Carlena Vaughn and Virginia Minnich; and two brothers, Carl Hempel and Henry Hempel.

Survivors include daughter, Oletha Acre and husband Dennis of Canton, Okla.; two sons, Guy Reichert and wife Gayla of Canton, Okla., and David Reichert and wife Brenda of Canton, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, Lori Thomas and husband Gary, Jerod Acre and wife Trish, Shiloh Sinclair and husband Doug, Matt Acre and wife Robyn, Jennifer Reichert, Jayme Vogt and husband Heath, Amy Leppert, Beau Brune and wife Amber, Krysta Dillon and husband David, Shayna Johnson and husband Matthew and Whitney Brune; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorials may be made to Canton Christian Church or Canton Senior Citizens, with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
