Jacob Dennis Tautfest, 56, of Canton, Okla. died March 22, 2007, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid, Okla. Dennis was born June 15, 1950, to Jake and Myrtle Tautfest in Ponca City, Okla.

He grew up on the family farm north of Billings, Okla. and attended Billings School where he was active in 4-H. He also attended the University of Oklahoma for a short time. Dennis married Karen Megenity on January 2, 1970. Together they had two sons, James and Jerry. After moving to Fairview, Dennis married Gayle Hoffman on July 5, 1980 in Fairview, Okla. They had three children, Gary, Jason and Jennifer.

Dennis loved computers and he held many jobs in that field, working at George E. Failings in Enid, Okla., Waldon Incorporated in Fairview, Okla. and Wheeler Brothers in Watonga, Okla. He also taught some computer classes at Fairview Vo-Tech. He enjoyed fishing and his grandkids.

Dennis is survived by his wife Gayle, of the home; sons, James Root and wife Robyn of Dallas, Texas, Jerry Root and wife Jessica of Tulsa, Okla., Gary Tautfest of Canton, Okla., Jason Tautfest and wife Kelli of Canton, Okla.; daughter, Jennifer Beckner and husband Travis of Canton, Okla.; one brother, Steve Tautfest of Tonkawa, Okla.; two sisters, Judy Rupp and husband Larry of Tonkawa, Okla. and Mique Smith and husband Doug of Ontario, Canada; six grandchildren, Victoria Root of Tulsa, Okla., Justice Tautfest of Canton, Okla., Colton Tautfest of Fairview, Okla., Raylee Tautfest, Jarrett Tautfest and Alexis Beckner, all of Canton, Okla.; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2007, at the Canton United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Canton Cemetery under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, Okla. (Paid Obit 3-25-1)
