Oscar Cruz Gonzalez

Oscar Cruz Gonzalez
May 12, 1954 ~ September 28, 2021

On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, Oscar Cruz Gonzalez reunited with Jesus Christ. Oscar was born May 12, 1954, in San Angelo, TX, to parents Jesus and Inez Cruz Gonzalez.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Amordore Gonzales, David Gonzalez, Dianna Gonzalez Moiser and Lynn Moiser and cherished son Shane Gonzalez. Oscar is survived by his beautiful wife Debbie Gonzalez, siblings Jesse and Stephanie Gonzales, Olga and AC Guajardo, Jose Gonzales, Vince Gonzalez and partner Mary, Rudy and Barbara Gonzalez, Johnny Gonzalez, Dene Gonzalez, Bobby Joe Gonzalez, his children Jesse and Breezy Gonzalez, Jeremy and Natalie Gonzalez, grandchildren Daeshawna, Little Jeremy, Electa Faith, Fabian, Sayzar and his great-grandchild Hazel Mae, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Oscar graduated from Binger High School in the class of '73. He later moved to Canton, OK, where he met the love of his life, Debbie Chaloupek, and they later married on February 10, 1974. Oscar remained a scrappy worker and loyal to the oil field from 1973-2011 drilling, pushing tools, and consulting. Oscar survived a terrible accident on the field where he had his face crushed working on cathead and A-leg. Not only did he overcome that accident, but his wife recalls many other close encounters, saying "he had more lives than a cat."

Oscar was a tenderhearted husband and father. He loved his boys from the bottom of his heart. As children he played ball with them and coached little league to high school baseball. As Shane, Jeremy, and Jesse became men, Dad invited them into the oil field to show them what it was like to work hard. Oscar spent many days sitting on the porch playing the harmonica or watching the rainstorm come in. He always brought joy and laughter to a room as a great storyteller with a voice like radio host "WolfMan Jack." His smile and presence was well known by the small town communities of Canton and Fairview.

A funeral service will be held Monday, October 4, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Canton Christian Church with the burial immediately following at Canton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the American Kidney Foundation or to the funeral expenses to Pierce Funeral Home. Condolences may be made online at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
