Myron Kay Garriott

Myron Kay Garriott
March 17, 1951 ~ April 3, 2022

Myron Kay Garriott was born March 17, 1951, in Watonga, OK, to Kay and Ruby (Gose) Garriott. He departed this life on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at his home near Eagle City, OK.

Myron grew up with his sister, Cherie, on the family farm five miles south and one mile west of Canton, OK, in the house his great-grandfather built. He graduated from Canton High School in 1969 before attending Oklahoma State University and earning a degree in Animal Science in 1974. He loved his OSU Cowboys!

After college, Myron came home to help his dad run the family farm and began dating the love of his life, Becky Williams. In 1976, he and Becky were married at the Canton Christian Church before making their home six miles south of Canton near Grandmother Garriott. They were blessed with three children: Jordan, Evin, and Brennan.

Myron ran the family farm with his son, Brennan, until the time of his death. He loved God, he loved his family, and he loved farming. His cattle meant the world to him, even the crazy ones. He adored his kids and grandkids and would drop anything to go watch them play sports. Myron loved his sports, especially basketball. After he stopped playing town team basketball, he would continue playing pick-up games at the high school gym every Wednesday and Sunday night with his friends and neighbors. He cherished getting to play against and alongside his son Brennan and son-in-law Matt up until his late-50s. He also got a kick out of telling stories and jokes to his friends. He never passed up a chance to get a laugh. He would repeat those stories many times over the years to the same friends, to the point that Brennan should have them memorized by now. Lastly, he loved his coffee buddies. You know who you are. He loved going in every morning to laugh and hang with his friends. He would often mention how much he wanted to take his dad into coffee just one more time. He didn't know a stranger and would wave or say hi to anyone he passed by.

Myron is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Jerry and Von Williams; sister-in-law Nancy Cully; and brother-in-law Dennis Lau. He is survived by his wife Becky; daughters Jordan Blackburn (and Evan) of Stillwater, OK, Evin Swartwood (and Matt) of Canton; and son Brennan of Canton; grandchildren Luke, Bella, Evie, and Mason Swartwood, Hendricks Blackburn and Baby Blackburn (due in October); sister Cherie Lau of Alva, OK; brother-in-law Wade Williams (and Becky) of Canton; brother-in-law John Cully (and Susie) of Gage, OK; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the Canton Christian Church. Interment will follow at the Canton Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton. Memorials may be made to the Canton Christian Church with the funeral home serving as custodian, P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724. Condolences may be made online at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
