Samuel Richard "Dick" Whinery

Samuel Richard "Dick" Whinery, 74, died January 9, 1979 in St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City after an extended illness. Memorial services were January 12, 1979 at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Reed and Rev. Lynn Heard officiating.
Burial was in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
Born October 5, 1905, in Oklahoma Territroy near Dill City, he was married to Olive Richman September 320, 1928, at Burns Flat, Oklahoma. The couple lived at Canute, Dill City and Port before moving to Retrop in 1941. The couple moved to Sayre in 1973. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sayre.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Whinery, 5 sisters, and a brother.
Survivors are his wife of the home; 2 sons, Dr. Kenneth E. Whinery and A.L. Whinery, both of Sayre; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother Earl Whinery of Dill City.
