William J. Plunkett was born, February 10, 1872 in Ft. Payne, Alabama; died March 18, 1952 aged 80 years, one month and eight days. He was married to Sarah Louise Durham, January 27th, 1902 in Pauls Valley, Okla. To this union seven children were born, three of whom preceded him in death. They moved to Rankin, in 1906 and to Texola in 1907, where he united with the Christian Church. They moved back to Rankin in 1910 and have since resided in this community, moving to Reydon several years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Plunkett visited in California for the past four months with their children. While there they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary and his 80th birthday. Mr. Plunkett could number his friends by his acquaintances, because of his friendliness, good humor and generosity. Truly a gentleman of the old South.
Those who mourn his passing are his wife of the home, daughters, Mrs. Oleta Caldwell, Garden Grove, California, and Mrs. Waneta Guthrie, San Jose, California; sons: Grady Plunkett, Santa Ana, California, and Bud Plunkett, Sacramento, California; step-daughter, Mrs. Tommie Douglas, Sacramento, California and John Durham, Fullerton, Calif.
