Funeral services for Jim French will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Home Chapel of Elk City with Andy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home of Elk City.
Wesley Leroy "Jim" French was born July 14, 1926 at the family home place near Berlin to Wesley and Ada Woods French and died Friday September 24, 2004 at the age of 78.
He graduated from Berlin High School and then served his coountry during WW II in the European Theatre. He was a POW for some 9 days before he made his escape on his own. After his discharge, Jim returned to western Oklahoma where he started a farming career.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons; one daughter; one brother; and one sister.
Survivors ibclude his children, Randy French and wife, Kelli of Chicago, Illinois, Terry French and wife, Betty of Sayre, Jamie Keng and husband, Bill of Midwest City; one sister, Pearl Herrington of Sayre; eight grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
