Sergio Rodriguez, Sr. was born December 20, 1940 in Matamoras, Mexico to Maria Rodriguez and Rodolfo Gonzales. He grew up in Matamoras and Brownsville, Texas. It was in Brownsville where he was married to Maria Garcia on July 14, 1965. Sergio and Maria's 50th wedding anniversary was on July 14, 2015, the day he passed away, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 24 days.

Sergio and Maria remained in the Brownsville area until 1977 and during the oil boom they moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma. After Sergio retired from the oilfield, they moved to Elk City, Oklahoma to make their home. He recently had taken up oil painting and had completed several works.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Maria Guadalupa, Petra Rodriguez.

He is survived by his wife, Maria, of the home; 5 children, Maria Roberson, Rosalinda Baker, Sergio Rodriguez, Jr, Cristina Rodriguez, Isabel Rupp, all of Elk City, OK; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister and brothers, Ana Alvarado, Elionso Rodriguez, Rodolfo Rodriguez, Rene Rodriguez, Reyes Rodriguez, and Ernesto Rodriguez.
