James "Jim" "Jamie" Bruce Richardson was born June 23, 1949 in Stafford, Kansas to Mary Frances and Leland Orval Richardson. He passed away July 26, 2017 on the family farm west of Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 3 days.

Jim grew up in St. John, Kansas and graduated from St. John High School in 1967. After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Marilyn Marie (McCandless) Richardson at St. John, Kansas on July 26, 1969. He attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas where he obtained his Bachelors degree of Science in Education. He began his career in education in El Dorado, Kansas where he remained for 5 years before moving his family to Elk City. After moving he began teaching 6th grade at Longfellow and coached all sports. He later became the principal at Merritt Middle School. While at Merritt he began working on his masters degree in education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University obtaining his degree in the late 80's. Jim later became principal at Northeast Elementary for 14 years and at Pioneer Elementary before his retirement in 2011. Jim also farmed the family homestead and through his work ethic turned it into a place for his family to enjoy. During his retirement Jim enjoyed many activities, but watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events and working with his hands on small engine projects were his hobbies. He especially enjoyed helping his grandchildren with their "papa projects" in his shop. Jim was known for talking to anybody that he saw and giving out hugs and making people feel important and valued. Jim was a member of the Church of Christ and served as a deacon and also as an elder for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Rodney Piepmeier.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of the home; 3 children, Brian Richardson and wife, Jenny, Sayre, OK, Barret Richardson and wife, Toni, Elk City, OK and Jamilyn Knight and husband, Chris, Poteau, OK; 11 grandchildren, Reagan LeGrand, Macee Richardson, Rachel LeGrand, Ryann Richardson, Braedyn Richardson, Camdyn Richardson, Reese Richardson, Max Richardson, Brooks Richardson, Reid Knight and Beckham Knight; 1 great grandson, Liam LeGrand; 6 brothers and sisters, Nancy Piepmeier and husband, Harold, Philip Richardson and wife, Janet, Ronnie Richardson and wife, Janet, Mark Richardson and wife, Yvonne, Martha Cutright and husband, David and Kathy Richardson and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family suggests memorials be made in Jim's honor to 2nd & Adams Church of Christ in Elk City or to the memorial scholarship fund set up at Interbank in Jim's name.

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 Pm on Friday.
