Mary Amanda Phelps

Mrs. Mary Amanda Phelps, 85-year-old pioneer, died late Saturday in a local hospital. Funeral services probably will be held Monday at the First Baptist church with Rev. George C. Hutto, pastor officiating. Time for the rites had not been announced pending arrival of relatives.
Mrs. Phelps had made her home with her son, Corey Phelps of Canute.
She was born September 7, 1853, in Virginia and came to this section in 1898. She had been a resident here since that time.
She was a member of the Baptist church.
Mrs. Phelps is survived by four sons and two daughters. They are Corey Phelps, Canute; Willie Phelps, Delvan (actually Delavan), Kans.; Grover Phelps, Harrington (actually Herington), Kans; Mrs. A. A. Austin, Pueblo, Colo; Charles Phelps, Elk City; and Mrs. Lola Whelldon, Palestine, Ill.
Two sisters, Mrs. Emma Straton, Hellack, Nevada, and Mrs. Fannie Van Camp, Brunswick, MO; and one brother, William Fitzwater, Lucena. Mo., also survive.
Other survivors include twenty-one grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery.

Rites Monday for Mrs. M.A. Phelps
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Phelps, 85-year-old pioneer, were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the First Baptist church here with Rev. George C. Hutto, officiating.
Interment was made in the Fairlawn cemetery.
Mrs. Phelps died late Saturday in a local hospital. She made her home with her son, Corey Phelps in Canute. Surviving are four sons, Corey Phelps, Canute; Willie Phelps, Delvan (actually Delavan), Kans.; Grover Phelps, Harrington (actually Herington), Kans; Charles Phelps, Elk City; and two daughters, Mrs. A.
