Obituary:

Paul Raymond Hedlund, Jr. was born August 31, 1927 in Long Beach, California to Myrtle and Paul Raymond Hedlund, Sr.. He passed away May 28, 2011 at Silver Spring, Maryland at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 27 days.

He moved with his parents to Elk City where he graduated from high school. He entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He attended the University of Oklahoma and entered the United States Air Force ROTC. After graduating from OU with a degree in business he returned to Elk City and worked at Hedlund Motor Company. He was married to Roberta Sue (Hunter), at Elk City, Oklahoma on October 7, 1951. They lived in Elk City until 1962 when they moved to Washington, DC and Paul began working for the Department of the Navy. He retired in 1991 as the Director of Special Projects. After his retirement he and Sue traveled extensively around the world.

He was a member of the Elk City First Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 1 son, Thomas Hunter Hedlund.

He is survived by his son, Stephen Paul Hedlund and wife Dianne Jean, Bowie, MD; 3 grandchildren, Paul Hedlund, Franklin, NC; Erik Hedlund, Franklin, NC; Stephanie Hedlund, Bowie, MD; 4 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and, friends.
