Mary Lee (Henry) Gage

Mary Lee Gage was born July 4, 1929 in Jericho, Texas to James and Winnie (Slay) Henry. She passed away peacefully in her home in Elk City, Oklahoma on October 26, 2020 at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 22 days.
 

Mary's dad worked for the railroad and the family lived in various places throughout Oklahoma and Texas before settling in Erick, Oklahoma. Mary attended school in Erick and graduated from high school there. She went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma Baptist University where she met Milton Gage and they were married on March 25, 1951. They later moved to Arizona where Mary graduated from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix with an elementary education degree. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1969 where Mary was a homemaker until she began teaching at Elk City Elementary in 1973. Mary commuted to Southwestern Oklahoma State University and later earned her master's degree in education. She taught for over 15 years before retiring. Mary taught piano lessons and was the pianist and organist for several churches for over 30 years. She loved sewing and shopping in her spare time. 


She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Jim Bill Henry and 1 sister, Francita Vaughan. 
 

She is survived by her husband, Milton Gage, of the home, 4 daughters, Debbie Beaty and husband, Tom, Elk City, OK, Janice Brim and husband, Mark, Moore, OK, Lenita Potter and husband, Steven, Tulsa, OK, Dawn Hubbard and husband, Scott, Moore, OK, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Neil Henry and wife, Frankie, Amarillo, TX, and a host of other relatives and friends.
 

Visitation will be held, Friday, October 30, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Whinery Chapel.

Graveside services will be held, Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 2:00 at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Whinery Funeral Service
