Iola Edna "Sunny" Evans

Iola Edna "Sunny" Evans was born prematurely due to a wagon accident on January 12, 1915 in Sevier County, Arkansas to Mary Etter (Honnoll) and Asa Marion Hubbard. She passed away August 19, 2014 at Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 99 years, 7 months and 7 days.

Sunny began life in a shoe box next to the stove as a baby. Her childhood was spent in Sevier County, Arkansas where she grew up and graduated from Lockesburg High School in 1933. After graduation, she furthered her education in Dallas, Texas from a business college where she resided in Ms. Hattie's Boarding House. This is where she met and was married to Joe Allen Evans at Dallas, Texas on November 26, 1941. Sunny and Joe moved to the family farm and ran the country store in the community of Forty-One during World War II. They moved to Dill City in 1948 where Sunny and Joe raised their children. During the 1950's and early 60's Sunny worked alongside her husband. She bought and sold cotton at the Farmers' COOP gin in Dill City and kept books at C&E Cotton Warehouse in Mt. View, Oklahoma. After they sold the cotton warehouse in 1964, Sunny and Joe returned to full time farming and ranching. Sunny was a hard worker and enjoyed gardening, traveling, shopping and attending horse races. She was also a member of the Dill City First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons-in-law, Ray Sharp and Jackie Chambless; 3 brothers, Clyde, Asa, and Elijah Hubbard; 2 sisters, Gail Rice and Zona Blackwood.

She is survived by her son, Perry Wayne Evans and wife, Mary, Canute, OK; 2 daughters, Loretta Jo Sharp, Cherokee, OK, Marian Allene Chambless, Calumet, OK; 10 grandchildren, Andy Evans and wife, Beth, Prague, OK, Kevin Evans and wife, Heather, Mapelwood, NJ, Kelli Turney and husband, Doug, Ft. Cobb, OK, Michael Chambless and wife, Jaymi, Calumet, OK, Craig Chambless and wife, Rachael, Calumet, OK, Kristi Miller and husband, Jeff, Calumet, OK, Melinda Skinner, Oklahoma City, OK, Barbara Watson and husband, Daniel, Great Bend, KS, Jeannette DeVore and husband, Murray, Viola, KS, Brenda Scripsick and husband, Vincent, Wichita, KS; 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Wyble Kibbee, Stockdale, TX and Helen Jones, Mineral Springs, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.
