Carrol "Kibo" Butcher

Carrol "Kibo" Butcher was born June 26, 1944 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Edith Mae and Walter Clarence Butcher. He passed away October 12, 2014 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 16 days.

Carrol grew up in Elk City and at an early age swept the floors at the Palace Drug Store and also had a newspaper delivery route. He attended Elk City schools and worked at Kelly's Dairy. After high school Carrol accepted a scholarship to play football at Eastern New Mexico State University in Portales, New Mexico and continuing his football career later played for Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma. After obtaining his bachelors degree he was married to Connie Ann (Evans) Butcher at Sayre, Oklahoma on November 17, 1969. After their marriage, they remained in the Elk City area until they purchased the Grover Shoe Company in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He continued the operation of the shoe company for a couple of years until the late 70's when he worked for the Shoe Box and Jones Men's Wear in Elk City. In the early 80's Carrol and Connie purchased Carrol's Shoe Corner and continued to own and operate it until his health forced his retirement.

Carrol was a member of the 2nd and Adams Church of Christ, the Elk City Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the Friendship of Education Award for donating shoes to kids that had a need.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Jimmy Evans.

He is survived by his wife, Connie, of the home; 2 sons, Brady Butcher, Elk City, OK and Beau Butcher, Elk City, OK; 4 brothers, Charles Butcher, Oklahoma City, OK, Donald Butcher, Conroe, TX, Farrell Butcher and wife, Sharon, Weatherford, OK, Larry Butcher and wife, Joan, Elk City, OK; mother-in-law, Glenna Evans, Elk City, OK; sister-in-law, Jill Evans, Sentinel, OK; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to say a special thank you to caregiver, Tamara Donahue, for her care and dedication during Carrol's final days.

Memorials may be made to: Westview Boys Home, The Tipton Home, Alzheimer's Research, or In Search Of The Lord's Way.
