Dennis Edward Vines

Dennis Vines was born November 22, 1947 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Edith Fern and Edward Dee Vines. He passed away January 20, 2014 at Erick, Oklahoma at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 28 days.

Dennis lived on the family farm south of Erick for 5 years before they moved to Phillips, Texas. He came back to Erick at the age of 16 to live on the farm and finish school. He worked on the farm and on other ranches until later becoming employed at the Carbon Black Plant. He was married to Mary Bradley at Erick, Oklahoma on December 23, 1966. He remained at the plant until it closed and then went to work for Beckham County District 3 until his retirement in 2011. Dennis loved his cattle and working on the farm, but he lived for his grandsons and enjoyed teaching them different things but not spoiling them.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Roxanne Redman.
 
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; 2 children, Paul Vines and wife, Susan, Erick, OK and Tracy Smith and husband, Rick, Erick, OK; 2 grandsons, Austin and Tanner Smith, a sister, LaNelda Hughes and husband, Don, Robinson, TX; a brother, David Vines and wife, Elaine, Owasso, OK; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
 
Services will be held January 23, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Erick First Baptist Church officiated by Bro. Charlie Floyd and Pastor Lance Whaley. Burial will be at Erick Cemetery under the direction of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home.
