Funeral services for Joe Bill Rutherford will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Erick Assembly of God Church with Charlie Floyd officiating.

Interment will follow in the Erick Cemetery, Erick, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home.

Joe was born January 11, 1926 in Cheyenne to Burl Neva Evans and Joe Bert Rutherford and died Monday November 1, 1999 at the age of 73.

He grew up in the Sayre-Sweetwater area.

He owned and operated the Coffee's Grocery Store. He also owned and operated Bill's Electric Store.

He married Gloria Joyce Stansberry on February 1, 1948 in Wheeler, Texas.

They lived in Clinton from 1948 to 1964 when they moved to Erick to make their home.

He was a member of the Rotary Club, VFW, American Legion and Erick Chamber of Commerce; and served his country in World War II in the Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gloria; one daughter, Nancy; and one sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Biggs of White City, Oregon; two sons, Mike Rutherford of Blair; and Kenny Rutherford of Wheeler, Texas; one sister, Kitty Scarbourgh of Sacramento, California; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
