F.I. (Fredrick Ira) Reed was born five miles north of Erick, on the family farm, on November 22, 1916 to S.A. (Seaborn Asa) Reed and Loretta (Campbell). He passed away March 30, 2015 at Weatherford, Oklahoma at the age of 98 years, 4 months and 8 days.

F.I. grew up in Erick where he graduated from high school. He was married to Violet Hazel (Bell) Reed in Sayre, Oklahoma on November 29, 1934. From this union was born 2 children. Jo Ann (Reed) Lanier and Freddie Leon Reed. F.I. loved to farm and raise cattle and was also the water superintendent for the city of Erick for a period of time. He also worked for United Carbon and moved to Odessa, Texas where he continued to work for United Carbon for 2 years. He later moved back to Erick where he made his home. F.I.'s hobby was work and also enjoyed taking care of animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Violet (Bell) Reed, 1 son, Leon "Bud" Reed.

He is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann Lanier, Binger, OK; 3 granddaughters, Vicky Nelson and husband, Reynold, Minco, OK, Twila Buie and husband, Terry, Ft. Cobb, OK and Patty Judd, Oklahoma City, OK; 9 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Sterling House and the staff of Faith Hospice.
