David Anson "Bill" Lewis

David Anson (Bill) Lewis was born February 19,1945 in Oklahoma City, OK. He passed away June 1, 2016 at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 12 days.

Bill was raised by his mother, Lillie Mae (Davis) and step-father, Frank Maloney. Frank loved, cared and provided for him from the time that he was just a very small child. Growing up, Bill helped on the farm and attended Erick Schools.
In March of 1967, he was drafted into the army and served in Vietnam with the 25th Infantry Division. He was trained in Fort Benning, GA and specialized with the Scout Dog group, where he and his dog would seek out and enter the tunnels where the enemy was hiding. Bill was a highly decorated soldier, receiving three purple hearts, a silver star and 2 bronze stars. He had stated in an interview a few years ago, that he felt that it was his duty to serve the country that he was proud of.

After returning from the army, he worked many years in pipeline construction. He operated some of the equipment, but his main job was driving a truck and transporting large equipment to the various job sites all across the nation. In the early 1990's, Bill returned to Erick to make his home. He worked at various jobs for a number of years until his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Calvin Raney and one sister, Verna Mae Killingsworth.

He is survived by 2 sisters, Virginia McKibbin and Carolyn Smith, nieces, Sherri Gamble, Debbie Bailey, Brenda Duncan, Karen Webb, Pam Terry and nephews, Link Raney, Mickey Raney, Chris Raney, Shawn Raney, Jerry Killingsworth, Rick McKibbin, very special friends, Todd and Joyce Sutton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
