Doris Floyd was born July 9, 1937 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Vernon and Lydia
(Throneberry) Kitchens. She passed away April 23, 2018 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the
age of 80 years 9 months, and 14 days.
Doris grew up in the New Liberty community and later moved with her family to
Erick. She graduated from Erick High School in 1955 as the class valedictorian.
Doris remained in Erick where she worked at the First National Bank. She was
married to Ronald Floyd on September 3, 1961 and they made their home in Erick.
Doris worked for 10 years as a teacher's aide at Erick Public School. She also
worked as a bookkeeper and took the utility payments in Erick for several years.
Doris was active in the community and had served as the President of the Rotary
Club. She enjoyed reading, working with kids, gardening and going to ballgames.
Doris was a longtime member of the Erick First Baptist Church where she taught
Sunday school for almost 50 years and also had 16 years of perfect attendance.
She is preceded in death by parents, husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Florine and Dudley Floyd, a brother, Glenn Kitchens, an infant sister, Elsie
Kitchens, a sister-in-law, Susie Floyd, a niece, Pattye Guy and a nephew, B. J.
Collins.
She is survived by her children, Linda Reimer and husband, Mike, of Erick, OK,
Cathy LeGrand and husband, Mark, of Sweetwater, OK and Janie Floyd of Elk City,
OK; 3 grandchildren, Dustin Reimer and fiance', Heidi Brinkley, of Sweetwater,
OK, Lindsay Reimer of Erick, OK and Logan Reimer of Erick, OK and a host of
other relatives and friends.
