Arthur Lee Puckett was born February 29, 1932 in the big two story house on 5th street in Sayre, Oklahoma to Beulah and J. B. Puckett. He passed away January 14, 2015 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 15 days.

Artie grew up in Sayre where he graduated from Sayre High School in 1951. While in high school, he was a member of the State Champion Sayre Eagle Football Team of 1950. Artie was a very accomplished football player and set multiple records at Sayre, which he still holds today. He was named to the Oklahoma All-State Football Team and later played football for the OSU Cowboys. Artie was married to Jackie L. Lewis at Sayre, Oklahoma on July 6, 1952. In 1953, he entered the US Army and served his country during the Korean War. After his discharge, he and Jackie moved to Goodwell, Oklahoma where Artie played football for Panhandle State University. They later returned to Sayre and he worked alongside his dad and brothers in the family business. In 1963 he purchased Sayre Grain, which he operated until his passing. Artie was a huge supporter of the Sayre community and Sayre Schools. He had served on the City Council and had been a member of the Sayre Kiwanis Club for over 50 years and had held multiple offices. Artie was loved by the community and selected as "Citizen Of The Year" in 2006 Every weekday for years he could be found with his coffee drinking buddies at the local café trying to cheat his way out of paying for his coffee and harrassing the waitresses and vice versa. He was an avid fan of Eagle Athletics and loved all the kids that played for them. Years ago he was instrumental in obtaining the huge Eagle displayed in the gymnasium, having it flown in by helicopter from California to the Delhi airport. Artie was voted "Fan Of The Year" in 2014. Later in life, his greatest joy was his grandkids and following all their activities, especially traveling to watch them play ball. Artie was a member of the Sayre First Baptist Church where his most important position was "Door Greeter". He loved passing out the programs and giving candy to the kids and hugs to all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Arthur Lee Puckett, Jr., 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
