Charles "Sonny" Helms was born January 10, 1931 in Shamrock, Texas He passed away November 17, 2015 at Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 7 days.

Sonny grew up in Shamrock, Texas. He was married to Lola Mae Canady at Sayre in May 24, 1953 and later moved to Elk City to make their home. Sonny was employed with the City of Elk City as a Street Superintendent until his retirement. He enjoyed playing music and was an accomplished guitarist, spending many hours entertaining others at the VFW and American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 2 brothers, John Helms and Billy Helms.

He is survived by his 3 children, Anita Furnace, Elk City, OK, Sonny James Helms, Elk City, OK, and Kimberly Biggs, Oklahoma City, OK; 6 grandchildren; 2 sisters, and a host of other relatives and friends.
