Virdia Mae (Fritts) Adkerson

Virdia Mae Adkerson was born September 8, 1917 to Herman and Lavonia Elizabeth Fritts at Checotah, Oklahoma. She passed away June 14, 2018 at Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 100 years, 9 months, and 6 days.

Virdia moved to Carter, Oklahoma when she was 12 years old. She attended Carter School. Virdia was married to Barney McCoy Adkerson and to this union was born: Joe, Betty, Herman and Coy. She lived in Elk City, Oklahoma and was a certified nurses aide until her husband became ill and she retired to take care of him. Virdia was an avid quilter and made family and friends happy with her gift of quilts. She also loved gardening and tending to her flowers. Virdia's love and kindness will be a cherished memory for all who knew her.
 

She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, 3 brothers, her husband, 2 sons, Herman and Coy Adkerson and 1 son-in-law, Jackie Todd.
 

She is survived by her son, Joe Adkerson and wife, Sharon, Elk City, OK; daughter, Betty Todd, Carter, OK; 2 daughters-in-law, Diane Adkerson and Debbie Adkerson, both of Elk City, OK; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
