Okemah Kathleen (Coffey) Neal

Okemah Neal was born April 10, 1925 in Erick, Oklahoma to Georgia and Roy Coffey. She passed away April 7, 2015 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 27 days.

Okemah grew up in the Sweetwater community and graduated from high school in 1943. After graduation, she moved to Oklahoma City where she worked as a telephone operator during World War II. Upon the conclusion of the war, she moved back to Sweetwater and met and was eventually married to Jarvis "Jug" Vernon Neal at Sayre, Oklahoma on April 27, 1946. Okemah and Jug moved to Los Angeles before moving overseas to various countries while Jug was working in the oil field. In 1970, they moved back to Sayre, Oklahoma to make their home. Okemah enjoyed quilting, dancing, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jug Neal. 

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Neal, Oklahoma City, OK; son, Rick Neal and wife, Susan, Tulsa, OK; 2 grandsons, Joseph Neal and Jackson Neal, both of Tulsa, OK; 1 brother, Ross Coffey and wife, Jenny, Pampa, TX and a host of other relatives and friends. 

The family suggest in lieu of flowers memorial donation be made to the American Heart Association. 

Services will be held Monday, April 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Buffalo Baptist Church. Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
