Cora "Lucile" (Holland) Nabors

Cora "Lucile" Holland Nabors was born October 16, 1925 in Eldorado, Oklahoma to Cloyce P. Holland and Caludia T. Neeley Holland. She departed this life October 18, 2014 at Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years and 2 days.

Lucile started school in Eldorado, OK. The family later moved to Crawford, OK, where she graduated high school in 1943. She attended Crawford Magnolia Baptist Church, which her father pastored. There she met Leo Nabors and they were later joined in marriage on December 10, 1943 in San Francisco, CA. Their wedding ceremony was said to be the first military wedding to take place onboard ship. This was a merchant marine ship, called the USAT KOTA BAROE, from the Netherlands with a Dutch crew. They were married by the captain of the ship in his cabin. She worked as a welder in the shipyards in San Francisco. She and Leo raised rabbits and worked some in the orchards. They later moved back to their Oklahoma roots to Sweetwater and later to Crawford where they raised their family and ran a grade A dairy. She received her Master of Education and taught elementary levels in Arnett and Cheyenne, OK. In 1972 she joined the KWEY radio station in Weatherford, OK where she served as an office manager for 19 1/2 years. In the late 90's she moved to Elk City, OK to be near her youngest daughter and family. She was an active member of the Sayre Assembly of God Church. Although she was saved at an early age, she rededicated her life to God on September 22, 2014 at her daughter's home, under the guidance of her Pastor her son-in-law Jim Blanken.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, her parents, a daughter, Jeannie Schmidtz, 2 brothers, Kenneth Holland and Leland Holland.

She is survived by her children, Janice Blanken and husband, Jim, Elk City, OK, Ronald Nabors, Carter, OK, Gary Nabors and wife, Leslie, Clifton Hills, MO; 9 grandchildren, Shawn Willyard and wife, Amy, Kelly Willyard and wife, Trina, Julie Szubinski and husband, Jeff, Shannon Robbins and husband, Terry, Whitney Vanderwork and husband, Dell, Kristy Metheney and husband, Mason, Donna Jay, Nick Blanken and wife, Justine, Kaylyn Blanken, 22 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, her sisters and brother, Lila McColgan, Ponca City, OK, Lavern Watson and husband, Johnny, Pea Ridge, AR, Haskell Holland and wife, Carol, Pink, OK; and a host of other relatives and friends.
