Elec A. Atchley was born August 11, 1902 in Greer County, Indian Territory, to Sally and Newton Daniel Atchley and passed away January 25, 1995 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 14 days.

Elec was raised in Roosevelt and Granite, Oklahoma and he moved to Elk City, Oklahoma and he married Bertha Hall on February 17, 1926 in Elk City. They moved to Arkansas before moving to Sweetwater in 1931 to make their home and raise their family. Bertha passed away in 1976 and Elec married Beulah O. Dodd Coffey on June 22, 1976 in Sweetwater, Oklahoma where they remained to make their home.

Elec had served on the Sweetwater School Board for a number of years and was a member of the Sweetwater First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; one son Lendon; one daughter Lillian; three brothers and one sister.

He is survived by four daughters/sons in law, Rena and Henry Walker, Atoka, Oklahoma; Wilma and Wayford Smith, Collingwood, Ontario; Donnaleta and Y.C. Fuchs; and Sue and James Keathley; all of Sweetwater; two step sons/daughters in law J. R. and Ellen Coffey, Burkburnett, Texas; and Dr. Maurice and Freda Coffey, Tulsa, Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 1995 at the Sweetwater First Baptist Church officiated by Ed Wrather, and assisted by C. R. Tucker.

Interment was in the Buffalo Cemetery, under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
