Lena Louise (Pierce) Rowland

Lena Louise Rowland, a beloved mother, and grandmother, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the age of 97 years 9 months and 29 days.

She was born in Redden, Oklahoma on April 22, 1919 to Joshlin L. (J. L.) and Mary Lucy (Hargrave) Pierce. Louise married Tommie E. Rowland in Darwin, Oklahoma on January 17, 1942. Louise was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she was a faithful Sunday school teacher to the young ladies. She retired from the First National Bank after many years of service. Louise enjoyed making ceramics, painting, gardening, and traveling. She loved spending time with her cherished grandkids and great-grandkids.

Mrs. Rowland is survived by her son, Tommie N. Rowland of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jeremy Rowland and wife Karen of Durant, Oklahoma and Courtney Willoughby and husband Jay of Atoka, Oklahoma; great-grandkids, Adrienne Rowland of Durant, Oklahoma, Maya Rowland of Durant, Oklahoma, Allie Rowland of Durant, Oklahoma, Jaycee Willoughby of Atoka, Oklahoma, Canyon Willoughby of Atoka, Oklahoma; brother, William Clyde Pierce and wife Gigi of Muskogee, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Dena Fryer and husband Jim of Calera, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rowland was preceded in death by her parents, J. L. and Mary Pierce; husband, Tommie E. Rowland; brothers, P. W., Lonnie, Haskell, Edgar, Jay, Jimmy, and Ray Pierce; sisters, Vesta Pierce and Thelma Cockrill.

The family respectfully request that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Falls Creek Cabin Fund at the Calvary Baptist Church.

Family hour will be on Tuesday, February 21st from 7-8:00 PM at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant.

A church service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22nd at the Calvary Baptist Church in Durant with Bro. Darel Bunch officiating. The pallbearers will be Jeremy Rowland, Jay Willoughby, Jim Fryer, Canyon Willoughby, David Pierce, Billy Pierce, Brian Pierce, and Jim Fryer.

Burial will follow at the Mountain Home Cemetery in Daisy, Oklahoma.
