Pleasant View Cemetery


ENID — Funeral service for Steve Lambert will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Jet United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Irby and Rev. Bob Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee. Viewing 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will be no viewing at the church during service on Wednesday. Memories may be shared with the family at www.lanman memorials.com.

Steve W. Lambert was born July 6, 1938, and departed this life peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, after a courageous six year battle with cancer.

Steve was born and raised in Jet and graduated from Jet High School in 1956.

He enjoyed a successful career as a farmer and rancher.

Steve was one of two children born to the late Jim and Vinnie Williamson Lambert.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Edna Mae of Jet, and remembered by his devoted sons, Reese and wife Julie of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Stephen and wife Heather of Peoria, Ariz. Papa was blessed with five grandchildren, Hunter, Hudson, Hagan, Cal and Sydney. He also has one sister, Jimmie Ruth Diskin of Cheney, Kan. One other survivor is his best friend and companion, Coot.

Steve served in the Army National Guard for seven years. He received two conservation awards for outstanding work and dedication in the stewardship of our natural resources.

Steve served on the town board of Jet and later was elected mayor of Jet for a total of 14 years service to the town of Jet.

Steve's profession was farming, but that was also his passion and hobby. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys and grandchildren, traveling to Arizona with Edna Mae to spectate the grandchildren's activities, and socialize with his close circle of friends.

Memorials may be made to Timberlake Swimming Pool or Oklahoma Medical Research, cancer division, through the funeral home.
