Funeral services for Edith May Hopkins, age 104, of Enid, will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 at Garland Road Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Dr. Ron Chastine will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. in Cherokee Cemetery, Cherokee, OK. Rev. Tom Cooksey will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 28, 1901, in Plainville, KS, to Arthur and Minnie Bailey Dean and died Sept. 20, 2006 in Enid.
She married Roy Jason Hopkins Jan. 1, 1920, in Enid, OK.
Edith was a member of the Ruth Chapter #447 of the Eastern Star, past matron and mother adviser of Rainbow and Garland Road Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 40 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Genevieve Coffman Beavers; one grandchild, Allen R. Coffman Sr.; nine great grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne Hutton of Wichita, KS; and sisters, Fern Houdaskelt of Wichita and Thelma Taylor of El Reno, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roy; daughter, Edith LaVonne Dean; sons-in-law, Allen C. Coffman and Bruce Beavers; granddaughter, Jonise Webster and grandson, Marvin Butch Coffman, and brother, Nelson Hutton.
Memorials may be made to Garland Road Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as custodian of the funds.
