Coweta Faye Ketcher Young
September 15, 1953-August 19, 2008
Coweta Faye Young was born September 15, 1953, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Charlie Bruce Ketcher and Lucy Christie Ketcher. She passed away August 19, 2008 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at 54 years of age.
Coweta was a lifelong resident of the Stilwell area and attended Northeastern State University. She married Robert Young in 1980, at the home of Rev. John Hummingbird. She was currently employed by W.W. Hastings Hospital where she had worked for 26 years as a data coder in medical records.
She was a very caring person who made friends easily and loved people. She loved to spend time with her family and baby-sit her grandson. Coweta was fluent in the Cherokee language and loved the traditional ways. She was a wonderful cook who made great Sunday dinners. Her hobbies included raising flower gardens, swimming and attending gospel singings. She was a membe of Mulberry Tree Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her aunt, Lizzie Christie and other aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 28 years, Robert Young, of the home, three children; Clay Young and Crystal Dooley of Tahlequah, Matthew Young of the home, John Killer and son, Josh, all of Stilwell, two brothers; Edward Charles Ketcher Sr., and wife, Judy, Ray Ketcher and wife, Vivian, of Stilwell, two sisters; Sarah Noble and husband, Rogan, and Wanda Scott, of Stilwell, one grandson, Brody Lane Young, many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were held 10:00 am Friday, August 22, 2008, at Hart Memorial Chapel in Stilwell with Reverends George Polecat and John Flute officiating.
Interment will follow at Stoney Point Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
