Charlie Hitcher Jr.
June 11, 1930 - April 17, 2006
Charlie Hitcher Jr. the son of Charlie Sr. and Jennie (Hammer) Hitcher, was born June 11, 1930 in Westville and departed this life on April 17, 2006 in Stilwell, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 5 days.
Charlie Jr. proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Citation for his service.He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Sr. and Jennie (Hammer) Hitcher, two brothers: Robert W. Hitcher and Leroy Hitcher; and one step-daughter Ginger EnglandHe is survived by a very loving family that includes a long time companion, Marguerite Smith of the home in Westville; one step-daughter: Joy Rogers of Houston, Texas; one step-son: Jimmy Wayne Smith of Stilwell; one sister: Ahnawake Taylor and husband Louis of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren: Adrain England of Westville, Lance England of Siloam Springs, Terry Nelson, Kim Arispe and Gary Rogers, Cindy Thompson, and a "special" granddaughter, Tina Boyd; Seven nieces and nephews: Steve and Jennifer Taylor of Dale, Texas, Carol and Charles Johnson of Wewoka, Oklahoma, Sharon Mull of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Georgeanna Crittenden of Westville, and Jennie Kindle of Proctor; two uncles: Dean and Gene Hammer; and four grand nieces and nephews: Erin, Charley, Andres and Dino. Many other relatives and friends also survive him.Funeral services were held Friday, April 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Andy Harlin officiating.
Interment followed in the Old Green Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
