Paul Howard Buckner

Paul Howard Buckner was 1 of 11 children born to Leland Dow Buckner and Evelyn Lois (Brown) Buckner on March 6, 1943, at their home in the Ewing Chapel Community of Stilwell, OK.

He attended school at Ewing Chapel Elementary and Stilwell High School.

Paul joined the United States Army during his senior year in January 1962. He was based in Germany and honorably discharged in January 1965.
 

He was united in marriage to Sheila Shey Wilson on June 4, 1966. To this union were born two children, Tammy Shey in 1967 and Johnny Howard in 1968. Through the years Paul worked at various jobs, including working as a tree surgeon for Wes Tree Services, in construction with his brother-in-law's company, Smith Construction, where he built homes for the Cherokee Nation and other tribes. His last job was as a heavy equipment operator for Adair County District #1 with then County Commissioner Butch Ogden. After a series of mini strokes Paul was placed on disability and early retirement in 1999.

Paul became a member of the Church of Christ in 1976, attending services with the Four Corners Congregation.
 

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Leland & Evelyn Lois, mother and father-in-law, Lee Roy & Mabel Wilson, brothers Billy Carl, Mosey 0., Bob, and Adrian. his sisters, Genevive and Evelyn Kay, and 3 great-grandchildren, Hope, Faith, and Rune Allgood.


He is survived by his wife, Sheila; daughter, Tammy Allgood and husband Gregory; son,Johnny Buckner, Sr. and wife Jowana; brothers; P. 0. & Floyetta Buckner,  Gerald Buckner, and Allen Buckner, Doyle & Sue Wilson, Ron & Helen Wilson, and Larry Wilson all of Stilwell, Toney & Barbara Buckner of Tahlequah, Ok. Audrey Leonard & Oleta Wilson of Westville, OK;, Don & Juanita Hays of Little Rock, AR. Also his grandchildren; Samuel Allgood & Shannon Littlejohn, Nathan & Elizabeth Allgood, Johnny Buckner, Jr. all of Stilwell. Dakota Buckner & Terry Lydecker of New Jersey, Micah &  Joe Bell, Tiffany & Josh Tabor of Prairie Grove, AR, Brittney & Brian Gabbard of Springdale, Arkansas.

He also leaves behind 19 great grandchildren; Maura, Kolden, Treyson, Dasan, Aubrey, Sakiya, Kelcye; Krayden, Kyler, Ian, Ryder, Aria, Chayton, Jaeger, Colton, Jessamie, Makayla, Jocelyn and Baby Girl Buckner, due in September, and many, many relatives and friends.


Graveside services were held at 2 pm on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Ewing Chapel Cemetery, Stilwell, OK with Bro. Rick Ritter officiating.  Interment followed under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Stilwell, OK.
