© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, August 2, 1939 Sarah Jane [Blundell] Wilson June 6, 1853 ~ July 31, 1939 Services Wednesday For Mrs. Wilson Funeral services were held at the home at 10 a.m. Wednesday for Mrs. Sarah Jane Wilson, aged resident of Carnegie for the past 20 years. Mrs. Wilson died Monday, July 31 at the age of 86 years, 1 months and 25 days. Mrs. Wilson, the eldest in a family of 12, was born June 6, 1853 at Sherman, Texas. Her husband and one child preceded her in death. During the long term she has lived in Carnegie she has made her home with her sister, Mrs. Nora Lenox. Besides Mrs. Lenox, three other sisters, Mrs. N.R. Beach and Mrs. G.H. Bristow of Van Horn, Texas and Mrs. R.M. Phillips of Wichita, Kansas, as well as several nephews and nieces survive. T.T. Brown, minister of the First Christian church conducted the funeral services and burial was in the Carnegie cemetery. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Baptist church at Georgetown, Texas. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, December 18, 1929 Samuel Alamargo "Jack" Blundell March 2, 1855 ~ December 14, 1929 S.A. Blundell of Bennington, Oklahoma who was here visiting his sister, Mrs. J.F. Lenox and his son, Jack, died at the Lenox home Saturday after an illness of three weeks. Funeral services were held at the Christian church Sunday, Rev. N. Ferd Engle preaching the sermon. Burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery. Samuel A. Blundell was born March 2, 1855, died December 14, 1929, aged 74 years, 9 months and 12 days He is survived by his widow, three sons, two step-sons and one step-daughter. He was a member of the Christian church. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, March 22, 1933 John Francis Lenox John Francis Lenox July 14, 1853 ~ March 21, 1933 Three years of intense suffering ended for Judge J.F. Lenox at 7:30 o'clock Tuesday morning when relief came in death. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church Wednesday at 2 o'clock, and interment made in the Carnegie cemetery. Rev. W.S. Deatherage, pastor of the church, preached the funeral sermon. Odd Fellows were in charge of the ceremony at he cemetery. John Francis Lenox was born in Ross County, Ohio, July 14, 1853, died at his home in Carnegie March 21, 1933 , aged 79 years, 8 months and 7 days. Mr. Lenox came to Carnegie at the time of the opening in 1901 and located on a homestead northwest of town, later coming to town where he has been engaged in business since. He was married to Mrs. Nora McGowan August 10, 1913. He is survived by the widow and one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Gray, Stamford, Conn. Mr. Lenox was appointed justice of the peace for the town of Carnegie in 1924 and served his community in that capacity until he was compelled to resign because of failing health three years ago. Judge was a charter member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Carnegie, and was always active in the lodge. He joined the Christian church April 19, 1931, and was baptised by his pastor, Rev. Deatherage. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, December 31, 1924 Ida May [Blundell] Vaughan February 2, 1872 ~ December 29, 1924 Ida Mae Blundell Vaughn wife of T.T. Vaughn formerly of this place died in Chickasha hospital, Monday, December 29. Sister, Mrs. J. F. Lenox Burial in Carnegie cemetery. Ida Mae Blundell was born in Sherman, Texas February 2, 1872 and died at Chickasha December 29, 1924 age 52 years, 9 months and 28 days She grew to womanhood at Sherman, Texas and later moved with her parents to Georgetown where she married December 29, 1889 to T. T. Vaughn. The Vaughn's moved to a farm northwest of Carnegie in January 1906 where they made their home until they bought a farm near Pocasset where they have lived for the past 8 years. Survivors include her husband, five children, Ernest T. Vaughn of Carnegie; Mrs. Guy Youngblood of Minden, Louisiana; Asa Vaughn of Tiago, Texas; and William McCoy and Thelma Fay at home. Her sisters, Mrs. R.N. Phillips and Mrs. S.J. Wilson and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Asa Vaughn, all of Tiago, Texas. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, April 10, 1940 Nora [Blundell] Lenox June 10, 1881 ~ April 5, 1940 Final Rites Sunday For Mrs. Nora Lenox Services were held at the First Christian church Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Nora Lenox, well known Carnegie resident, who passed away late Friday night after a long illness. Rev. T.T. Brown, pastor, was in charge of the services and burial was made in the Carnegie cemetery under auspices of the Rebekah lodge of which order she had long been a member. Born in Grayson county, Texas June 10, 1881, Nora Blundell was the youngest of twelve children. She came to Carnegie in 1909 and was married to J. F. Lenox in August, 1911. Mr. Lenox died in 1933. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. N. R. Beach and Mrs. G. B. Bristow of Van Horn, Texas and Mrs. Hattie Phillips of this place and a niece, Miss Marie Blundell who has made her home with Mrs. Lenox for some twenty years and who assumed a great deal of the responsibility of caring for her in her long illness. There are also many other nephews and nieces and a host of acquaintances. Mrs. Lenox became a member of the Christian church in Collinsville, Texas and lived a consistent Christian life for more than forty years. |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, May 23, 1962 Mary Adeline Blundell May 18, 1882 ~ May 20, 1962 Blundell Funeral Is Held Tuesday At Local Church Funeral services for Miss Mary Adeline Blundell were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian church with Rev. Wm. E. Harris, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery. Miss Blundell broke her hip several weeks ago and had been hospitalized since. She died late Sunday in the Carnegie hospital. She was born May 18, 1882, at Denison, Texas. She had been a resident of Carnegie since about resident of Carnegie since about 1918. She became a Christian at an early age and united with the local First Christian church soon after coming here. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lou Shuster, Carnegie; two nieces, Mrs. Blanche Price, Springfield, Ore., and Mrs. Charlotte Jarnigan, Carnegie; one nephew, L.A. Shuster, Carnegie, and several great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Preston Holbrook, Ivan Giles, C.G. Law, George Melton, Laurence Bolen and Walter Johnson |
© Carnegie Herald Carnegie, Oklahoma Wednesday, Novembeer 26, 1969 Mattie Bell [Steelman] Blundell September 11, 1901 ~ May 18, 1882 Blundell Rites Held Friday Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Belle Blundell, 68, were held at 2 p.m. last Friday at the First Christian church with Rev. Ward Botts, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Carnegie cemetery under the direction of Pitcher Funeral Home. Mrs. Blundell died of an apparent heart attack early Wednesday in the local hospital She was born September 11, 1901 in Malta, Texas. She came to Oklahoma as a young girl and had been a resident of Carnegie the past 41 years. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Louise Johnson of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Laverne Green of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Imogene Smith of Garden Grove, Calif.; two sons, L.A. Blundell of the home and Al Blundell of Midwest City; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. |
